Can I use plain sterile water instead?
Plain sterile water has no preservative, so an opened vial is intended for single use only. Bacteriostatic water's benzyl alcohol content is what allows a vial to be used across multiple reconstitutions.
How many times can one vial be used?
This depends on how it's handled in your lab; the benzyl alcohol content extends usability compared to plain sterile water, but sterile technique should still be used for every withdrawal.
Does it expire once opened?
Yes; a shelf life of 28 days is common, however, with basic sterile techniques (wiping before and after each draw) our bacteriostatic water can be used for up to 3 months. Always inspect for clarity before use.
