Product information

Cartalax is associated with the short peptide Ala-Glu-Asp (AED). Published laboratory work has examined chondrogenic markers in ageing human mesenchymal stem-cell cultures, but this in-vitro evidence does not establish cartilage repair or clinical benefit in people.

Research information

What Is Cartalax?

Cartalax is associated with the three-amino-acid peptide Ala-Glu-Asp, abbreviated AED.

Why Is It Being Researched?

AED has been used in laboratory studies of mesenchymal stem-cell ageing and chondrogenic markers such as SOX9, aggrecan, type II collagen and COMP.

Evidence Note

The directly relevant evidence is in vitro, not a human treatment trial. A study of ageing human mesenchymal stem-cell cultures reported changes in chondrogenic markers after AED exposure. This does not demonstrate cartilage regeneration in people. See the PubMed-indexed study and a related gene-expression study.
